# Favorites

Toggle Favorite, in the [command palette](Command-palette.md), adds or removes the selected file or folder.

- In the palette, `$` lists favorites. Pick one to open it.
- In the [filter](Filter.md), a leading `$` lists the same favorites.

These are not the folders pinned in Explorer. Those show up in the [home view](Home-view.md).
