# Filter

`Ctrl + F` focuses the filter box under the path. The list narrows as you type. `Esc` leaves the box.

Each word must appear in the name. `-word` excludes names that contain that word.

With the box focused and empty, the hint lists the extra clauses:

- `:r` searches the folder recursively.
- `:size > 1mb` keeps files by size. Operators are `>`, `>=`, `<`, `<=`, and `==`. Units are `b`, `kb`, `mb`, and `gb`.
- `:age > 1 week` and `:age < 3 days` keep files by age. Units are `day`, `week`, `month`, and `year`.
- `:date-before 2026-01-01` and `:date-after 2026-01-01` take a `YYYY-MM-DD` date.

A leading `$` lists [favorites](Favorites.md) instead of the current folder.

A leading `!` runs a command in the current directory. `Enter` runs the selected history row, including its directory. `Tab` fills in the command and leaves the directory alone.
