Ctrl + F focuses the filter box under the path. The list narrows as you type. Esc leaves the box.

Each word must appear in the name. -word excludes names that contain that word.

With the box focused and empty, the hint lists the extra clauses:

A leading $ lists favorites instead of the current folder.

A leading ! runs a command in the current directory. Enter runs the selected history row, including its directory. Tab fills in the command and leaves the directory alone.
